Hey there! I’ve been selling at markets for four years, give or take. Looking forward to connecting with folks in this group!

I’ve never had the guts to go to a market. I’ve been invited a few times, but I feel like I need to have a bunch of different items and selections. How does your market look like? Post pictures!! 😀

Here’s a photo! I tend to value negative space in my booth and limit my selection to bags, notebook covers, wallets, and belts. I actually feel like I have too much stuff–customers know I sell leather goods, but I haven’t niched down to become *the* person for handmade bags, for example.

The real trick, I think, is figuring out who your ideal customer is and then finding events that fit that description. In the early years of my business, I made whatever for anyone and kind of just winged it. I’m getting to the point now where I want to target women with expendable income, a classic sense of style, and a commitment…

Ran across this website via threads and it got my curiosity. I’ve been a leather instructor for a number of years and in the field for about fifteen total, most recently dabbling in making acrylic templates and tools for myself, plus working with a tattooler. Keeping an eye out for the Halloween contest post, as that sounds like fun!

That’s awesome! Do you have any tips on landing events like these? I’ve done one, but it was pretty much by luck.

Good to know! I’d love to land a large client or three in my area for some customized card wallets or similar. Is it a matter of just cold-contacting them, or did you network your way into those gigs?

Getting started using 3D printing in your leather shop.
Ideally, they do, but just putting them in a separate room is usually enough. Most of the newer models have a carbon air filtering system onboard, but still I wouldn’t put one in my bedroom
