As much as I like laser cutters, it never fails that when you cutout the small stitch holes, whatever color thread you start with, it always comes out brown or black. This started tan and turned-out brown… 💀

A friend of mine used to wash the pieces with a saddle soap after laser cutting to get rid of burnt residue. Not sure if that’s a good idea though, as it strips the oils out of leather 😅

Work in progress on my kideny pouch for ren faire next year. All pieces cut, punched and dyed (though i need to do a few touchups)

Try to buy one of these knives – https://www.rmleathersupply.com/products/mozart-thin-knife – they have different tips but are SUPER sharp. This should help you cut through the leather without pulling on the leather and making it curl in places. I would start with that…
