• Used my new Cricut Maker 4 and a tutorial i found online to tool a quick leather patch. Took no time at all and super impressed with how well the cricut tooled 6oz Veg tan.

      Material: 6oz Veg tan

      • Ah, dude. The Cricut is amazing! I bought a blade for the Cricut as well (a while back) and it worked wonders for me. It can cut through quite a bit of leather. I mainly used it to do Marquetry (this picture isn’t mine btw – just showing what I’m talking about)

The problem I ran into was the sticky coating would wear out after a few cuts and those mats got super expensive. Have you found a solution for that? I think this is one of those tools people sleep on

        • @Shamus oh yeah my fiancée wants to do some stuff like that!

For preserving the mat, a tip I found was to apply transfer paper to the flesh side of the leather, then adhere that to the mat. This way it isn’t ruining the mat with the flesh. Also we found some pretty affordable mat packs on amazon (like $12 US for one of each mat and about the same for 4 of a single mat) once we are useing this a lot more we probably will go through them a bit more.

I got the blade attachment so excited to try just skipping the template step and use it to cut out from a svg. Sadly the method I used (useing the engraving tool to cut the design like a swivel knife would be used then the foil tool to set it in like a bevel stamp) doesn’t allow the knife tip to be used.
