Made a wallet from a Black Flag Leather Goods pattern. The second wallet I’ve made from a pattern, and… there’s lots to improve on. My stitching ended up way too close to the edge. :/
-
It honestly doesn’t look bad. Do you know why it ended up that close?

It happens! Looking at the inside of the wallet, the margins look a little bigger; if I had to hazard a guess your pricking irons might have been angled out a hair, causing the holes to be too close to the outside edge. Did you punch from the interior of the wallet with the exterior against the table?

Very new, thought I’d give this leather thing a go. Obviously I have lots of room to improve, but glad I am taking the first steps.

Boom! This came out great!

Used my new Cricut Maker 4 and a tutorial i found online to tool a quick leather patch. Took no time at all and super impressed with how well the cricut tooled 6oz Veg tan.
Material: 6oz Veg tan

Ah, dude. The Cricut is amazing! I bought a blade for the Cricut as well (a while back) and it worked wonders for me. It can cut through quite a bit of leather. I mainly used it to do Marquetry (this picture isn’t mine btw – just showing what I’m talking about)
The problem I ran into was the sticky coating would wear out after a few cuts and…

I had no idea what a Kidney pouch was, so took that way too literal when I read the title lol This is going to look awesome when it’s done. I love purple on black combos

Hi everyone,
I am a complete beginner, started with a course leather tooling (which was a birthday gift from my family) but started sewing and making bags and other things, which I might enjoy even more. Here are just a couple of things I made so far. As you can tell I am looking for more patterns and tips on improving my skills, while…

The main thing I would focus on is trying to find a way to cut straight. Try to buy one of these knives – https://www.rmleathersupply.com/products/mozart-thin-knife – they have different tips but are SUPER sharp. This should help you cut through the leather without pulling on the leather and making it curl in places. I would start with that…
