dsleathergoods & shamusleather Halloween Contenst Entry by Hels (@Hide_Cycle)
I have stuck largely to the pattern for this contest but made the bag in a soft leather. I stitched the sides to secure the interlocking design and I really like the result of this and something I will incorporate into experimenting with bag making in the future. As I needed to get the bag onto my post sewing machine I split the original pattern and added a base to the bag to make this possible. I changed the closure to a small zip to make it look like the skull’s teeth, this was another first for me, adding a zip into the middle of a panel in this way. I was pleased it actually worked well and looks effective. I added the text, ‘Bite Me’ which I originally planned to do as 3D printed letters stitched in (see photo with letters printed onto mesh) but after much effort I realised that the size of text for this bag was too small to look decent so just went with red leather backing in the end. I learned so much making this bag, which for me was the whole point. I love opportunities to learn and grow into my craft so thank you for making this pattern available and giving me the opportunity to play around with it.

The zipper closure is such a cool idea and totally gives the ‘those are teeth!’ vibe! Very cool! 🙂
