Pattern Description

This is a wallet I’ve been meaning to make for a long time but never actually committed to. I’ve seed them online, but never took the time. I came across someone asking for a wallet template on Reddit, so I decided to design one in LeatherCad. I made the pattern for them, but figured I might as well try to build it and test out the design.

It turns out to be a pretty slick design – but it does come with some caveats. If you’re not careful, this wallet can get bulky fast. To make everything fit correctly, I had to skive every piece down to 0.7 mm. Because of that, I wouldn’t call this a beginner project. While the overall concept is straightforward, things can quickly get out of hand unless your pieces are pre-skived and you’re comfortable cutting and setting an ID window.

The finished wallet holds three cards in the front slots, two cards in a hidden pocket, one ID in the rear window, and two additional cards in a back secret pocket. Anything beyond that is really pushing the limits. Overloading it will make the wallet overly thick and, depending on the leather you use, can cause creasing from the bottom up.

All said and done, the build took me about two hours, and I’m really happy with how it turned out.
